So, I'm over here in Paris. I love Paris, don't get me wrong.
But a little French goes a long way. So that by the end of the day, when I wish to throw myself in front of the television for a little fluff, it must be in English--
My only choices, therefore, are CNN and BBC. Both of which seemed to manned primarily by Brits.
Okay, so how do you suppose they pronounce Barack's name? It seems like it would be a simple enough matter to get it right.
But no. The British announcers choose to pronounce his name 'Barrack.' You got it. Like the army. Like barracks. Emphasis on the first syllable. Like they've decided it sounds better mis-pronounced.
I am starting to take major umbrage over the way the English announcers feel free to mangle American. I won't go into what they're doing to the baseball players names.
Sgt. Barracks Obama?
Watch it, my dear fellow, somewhat the same language, speakers. There is one dear to your hearts who could always be called Lizzyboo, or Betty Boop, or Betcha You Outta Retire. It could happen.
