I read in Vogue that a famous actress had this to say about a famous socialite. "She is the only woman I've ever seen who can successfully wear diamonds and turquoise together."
I am totally amazed. I didn't know. Did you? That diamonds and turquoise cannot be worn successfully together, except by this one woman? I don't know whether to be relieved as hell there is at least one woman out there who can pull this feat off. Or beyond despair that I, it seems, cannot.
I am confused though. Because what could possibly be the problem with putting blue and glass together? Color wise, hue wise, it works. Certainly in light of the 'A's I used to garner in coloring book class. Blue and white was my favorite combination, and it would seem my teachers agreed. After blue and white I was heavily into yellow and pink, which in context of this subject translates into topaz and rubies--
Now there's a combo that could be seen as a tad garish.
Maybe it's merely a social gaffe--like wearing white patent leather hot pants after Labor Day, or a baseball hat that screams "ROUTE 66" in Paris, or your bra strap to PTA meetings...anywhere.
Whatever. I have taken umbrage, and from now on plan to forsake reading the small print in Vogue magazine.
